U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg discusses love of opera and the law with Ginsburg’s Aria featured on the program
COOPERSTOWN, NY | JULY 14, 2014 – Audience members who attend Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s talk at the 2014 Glimmerglass Festival will be in for an added treat. An aria from composer Derrick Wang’s opera Scalia/Ginsburg — “You are searching in vain for a bright-line solution” — will be performed as part of the program.
Scalia/Ginsburg is a comic opera based on U.S. Supreme Court opinions from Justice Ginsburg and Justice Antonin Scalia. While the two are famously ideological opposites, they have been close friends for more than three decades and share a lifelong love of opera.
Justice Ginsburg returns to Glimmerglass to share her passion for opera and unique perspective on law in the arts. The program shares a lively balance of performance and commentary.
