Derrick Wang performs in audiobook of Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s ‘My Own Words’
The audio version of Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s new book My Own Words features a special segment on the opera Scalia/Ginsburg, narrated and performed by composer-librettist Derrick Wang and recorded at New York’s Steinway Hall.
In the audio version of Part I, Chapter 7,* “The Scalia/Ginsburg Opera,” Tony Award-winning actress Linda Lavin reads the prefaces that Justices Ginsburg and Scalia wrote for the opera libretto’s publication in the Columbia Journal of Law and the Arts. After these prefaces, Derrick Wang narrates the plot of the opera, singing excerpts and providing musical illustration on the piano. The track concludes with an excerpt from the world premiere production of Scalia/Ginsburg, performed by the Castleton Festival in 2015.
Scalia/Ginsburg will be produced by The Glimmerglass Festival in Cooperstown, NY on August 4 & 13, 2017.
